The eastern end the border town of Bhutan, samdrupjongkhar which hardly have tourist were surprise to see convoy of custom made Mercedes Benz utility vechicle
A group of tourists, travelling around the world in a convoy of custom made Mercedes Benz sports utility vehicles, paid a visit to the border town, attracting a large number of casual onlookers and children to their amusement. The group even decided to make a night halt in the town.
Samdrup Jongkhar hardly ever sees tourists except on rare occasions when stray tourists decide to take a sneak peek, spending a night in the hotel downtown, before departing the very next day.
This week was different. Thirty tourists travelling in 15 Mercedes Benz deemed the town worthy of a visit on their trip ‘Journey over the top of the world’.
On their part, the tourists were pleasantly surprised.
Martin Breuninger, the group leader, said they “have crossed Africa and South America and most parts of the world and never saw so much friendly look so happy. The kids are nice and it is a fantastic experience. That’s one reason why my daughter will come here next year.”
They left Germany in September and have travelled across Europe, Russia, China and Nepal. They left Samdrup Jongkhar on Friday morning for Siliguri.
